Financial Controller

Arizona Autism United (www.AZAunited.org) is a growing nonprofit organization whose sole focus is providing high quality direct services and supports to children and families in our community.  We are searching for an amazing FINANCIAL CONTROLLER to become part of a highly dedicated leadership team and help us successfully expand our services across the Valley and eventually statewide. The core functions of the job include managing accounting systems, reporting and analyzing financial data, monitoring payables and receivables, strengthening internal controls, and administering cash management policies.  

Job Duties include: 

  • Organize all financial data and ensure that all bookkeeping and accounting transactions are completed accurately, using GAAP and the organization’s defined classification systems and methodologies.
  • Manage external coordination activities including financial audits, funder reports and tax return preparation.
  • Prepare and analyze the organization’s financial statements, budgets, projections and other related reports.
  • Scrutinize contracts and vendor agreements to help determine if the terms align with the organization’s needs.
  • Provide leadership along with the CEO and the Board of Directors for the organization’s Finance Committee.
  • Manage all invoices and oversee disbursement processes.
  • Ensure timely billing and collection procedures for all revenue-generating activities.
  • Conduct regular bank reconciliations and related procedures to ensure all funds are accounted for properly.
  • Move funds between cash accounts to cover all expenses and maximize available investment returns.

Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 5 years experience managing financial and accounting operations, preferably in a Controller position, and a bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration. Experience in a nonprofit, human services and/or healthcare organization is strongly preferred. Advanced Excel skills and experience with Quickbooks is required. All candidates must be able to pass a background check and credit check, as well as other hiring requirements.
